‘A Rocket Launched from the Northern Gaza Strip Towards Israel’

I wrote this nine years ago after seeing a photo in The New York Time by Amir Cohen. (Here it is in The Jerusalem Post.) what struck me at the time, and what strikes me most now about the images from Israel and Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan — the various hot spots burning around the globe — is the art produced, the way photographers take what we know to be truly horrendous events and make them things we must stare at.
