Quick Note
Truthout: 'Public Universities Run on Underpaid Labor. Now Grad Workers Are Fighting Back.'
Truthout has published a piece on higher ed organizing by Sudip Bhattacharya that explains why we are witnessing a historic wave of university worker strikes and job actions. I’m quoted in the piece.
The publication date is important, because we will be announcing later today the results of a strike authorization vote at Rutgers that could lead to the first faculty strike in the university’s 257-year history. We’ve engaged in an all-out organizing effort and there is tremendous unity among faculty. But more on that later.
In the meantime, read Bhattacharya’s piece and watch the video I posted earlier this week explaining why I voted to authorize a strike. You can read more from Bhattacharya at his Substack.
