Annie and I have been married 34 years today. What is surprising to me is not that we have lasted. I knew we would. What is hard to fathom, for me, is all the time that has passed and how the world around is is so different now than it was when we met.
I wrote this poem for our wedding program and then published it in a very limited edition chapbook called Chiaroscuro. The feelings remain sincere, though I won’t vouch for the quality of the poem itself.
